Trash and Recycling

For your convenience, a compactor room is located on each floor in between the H & I line apartments. Below are our trash room guidelines.

• The tall bin on the right is for metals, plastics, and glass.

  • Containers must be emptied of all contents before placing items in the bin.

• The short bin on the left is for mixed paper.

  • Boxes must be broken down and placed neatly in the bin.

  • Pizza boxes should empty (no crusts or napkins).

​

• All other trash must be in a tied trash bag and placed in the trash chute.​

  • Items such as coffee makers, toasters, irons, plungers, brooms, mops, clothing hangers, tools, aerosol cans etc. should be placed in the recycle bins or brought down to the ground level and left by the service entrance. 

  • Our trash chutes are original to the building, and weren’t designed for the size of today’s trash bags. We recommend using smaller trash bins/bags (20-35qt), or throwing out your trash more often when it’s less full, to aide in ease of trash disposal. 

  • Trash is not permitted to be left on the floor or in open bags.

  • Boxes may not be used to dispose of trash.

• Oversized items, including moving boxes, furniture, rugs, and mattresses must be brought to the ground level corridor on the 1st floor.

Please note violation of these guidelines lead to the compactor machine failing and results in added work for the porters along with costly repairs.
